Here is the synopsis of the first episode scripted by Frank Miller: “After trying to buy a boat to put out to sea, Corto Maltese is arrested by Belize City soldiers on the orders of someone whose feet Corto has stepped on. The attempt is clearly to pay homage to the character and the work. The incipit of the first episode will be a tribute to A ballad of the salty sea, one of the most famous stories of the character, although this adventure did not take place in the Caribbean. The TV series will tell stories inspired by Corto’s first adventures in the Caribbean, and fans will be able to find historical figures such as Rasputin, Madame Java, Bocca Dorata, Morgana, Tarao. The rights are now managed by Cong Pratt, which continues to publish stories of the sailor and adventurer born in 1887, entrusting them to other authors. Miller will be creator, writer and executive producer of the series which will be produced by Studio Canal and will be announced simultaneously from three different locations: Los Angeles, London and Paris. From Hugo Pratt to Frank Miller, Corto Maltese is ready to hit the small screen in live action format with a major world-class production led entirely by the creator (and co-director) of Sin City. The masterpiece of a master of comics will be transformed into a TV series by another master of comics.
